- רִמָּה, רִי׳f. (b. h.; רמם to move; cmp. רחש a. deriv.) worm, esp. the worm in mans grave. Ber.18b קשהר׳ למתוכ׳ the worm is as painful to the dead body as a needle in sound flesh. Sot.5a (play on ב̇שר̇) ב̇ושה ס̇רוחה ר̇׳ basar (flesh) suggests ‘shame, ‘putrefied, ‘worm. B. Mets.83b איןר׳ ותולעהוכ׳ no worm of any kind shall have power over you. Ab. IV, 4 תקות אנושר׳ the prospects of man are worms. Koh. R. to V, 10 הרי הוא לר׳ ותולעה he is (food) for worms; a. fr.Pesik.
